summary As the discipline of real estate education comes to a stage of maturity in Germany, the providers of real estate education begin to specialize. The paper provides empirical evidence for this specialization with regard to an approach which can be described as "transaction-based", as it focuses on real estate investment, finance and valuation, flanked by law, tax and economics. The paper further researches the understanding of the term "discipline" by analyzing what type of real estate education can be described as inter-, multi- or transdisciplinary. Lastly, the paper compares the German results of real estate research priorities with international evidence for the US (Worzala; 2000), Australia (Newell; 2001) and U.K. (Newell, McAllister, Worzala; 2003).
